County Of Northumberland Ideas

County created by the General Assembly of Virginia in 1648 during the period of rapid population growth and geographic expansion. Settlements in this area ranging from northern neck around 1635. Originally known as the district Chickacoan India, the first appearance of the name of Northumberland in the colonial records in 1644. The following year, John Mottrom Burgess served as the first for the region in the House of Burgesses, which met in the capital of Virginia Colony at Jamestown.

Drastically reduced the size of the county in 1651 and 1653 as Lancaster County and Westmoreland County, respectively, which is carved out of it.
Of 172 districts that never existed in the history of Virginia, Northumberland finally become an "ancestor" of 116 is - more than 95 districts today (some have been lost to other countries)

Northumberland has a varied landscape. Low and flat coastal areas and mountainous land up the hill to the west and northwest. This is the extreme beauty of the river and wind through stunning scenery. This is a famous salmon and trout rivers.
